Is it free?
Yes, up to a point. For your first 14 days, Saywind is unlimited. After that, it’s free for up to 2,000 words in any 7 days. When they’re used up, the next press of the key offers to buy, and words come back as the days roll on. £44.95, once, makes it unlimited.
How much is unlimited?
£44.95, once, with no subscription. You upgrade from inside Saywind, whenever you’re ready. It’s €44.95 in the eurozone and $44.95 elsewhere. Prices include tax, except in the US, Canada and India, where it’s added at checkout. Saywind is made by Peiser Apcar Ltd and sold through Polar (polar.sh), our reseller, which handles payment, tax and receipts.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. If you buy and change your mind, you can have a full refund within 30 days, no questions asked. It also covers your 14-day right to cancel in the UK and EU. To ask, email hello@saywind.com from the address you bought with.
What does a licence cover?
One person, on up to 3 Macs, with every update included. The licence never expires, and once Saywind is set up it keeps working without ever needing us. To move it to a new Mac, remove it from the old one in Saywind or at saywind.com/portal.
Does it work without the internet?
Yes, once it’s set up. Dictation itself never goes online. Saywind only connects to download a speech model the first time one is needed, to activate, check or remove your licence key, and for a weekly update check you can switch off.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It doesn’t run on Intel Macs.
Do I need Apple Intelligence?
No. It’s only needed for Smart clean-up, which uses Apple’s on-device model on macOS 26 or later to untangle changes of mind and spoken lists. Without it, Saywind still takes out the ums and sets out lists you number out loud (“first…, second…, third…”).
Can I talk without holding the key?
Yes. Tap the key twice and Saywind keeps listening. Tap it once more to stop.
Which languages does it understand?
25, recognised automatically: English, with British or US spelling, plus Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian. Clean-up is built for English.
What happens the first time I open it?
It asks for two permissions: the microphone, so it can hear you, and Accessibility, so it can type for you. As soon as it opens, it starts downloading its speech model, about 630 MB, once. You don’t need a key: you start with 14 days unlimited.
What does Saywind know about me?
Saywind turns your speech into text on your Mac and never sends it anywhere itself. There’s no tracking in the app or on this site. When you buy, Polar passes us what we need for your order. The privacy policy has the details.

How do I uninstall it?
Quit Saywind from its menu bar icon, then drag it from Applications to the Bin. To remove what it keeps as well, see how to delete your data.
